A Pedal Bin Designed in 1939 Returns in a Historic Colorway

Pedal bins aren’t the most glamorous objects but no one can argue against their functionality as a necessity. In 1939, Danish entrepreneur and metal smith Holger Nielsen, designed a pedal bin specifically for his wife Marie, also an entrepreneur who needed a practical waste bin for her salon. Nielsen painted it beige and named it Vipp. Not only did the color match Marie’s salon, it also matched hospitals. The design became a hit in Danish clinics with doctors, dentists, and veterinarians. Over the years, the beige was pushed aside as white and black colorways became the preferred colors…until now. Vipp is bringing back the beige and calling it Holger’s Beige, a historic colorway that has still remained contemporary and is now available across all of Vipp’s home accessory offerings. In addition to the Pedal Bin collection, Vipp products available in Holger’s Beige are bathroom accessories, including a soap dispenser, wall soap dispenser, toilet brushes, toothbrush holder, and laundry basket.
