Marés Stone Meets Playful Color at This Apartment Renovation in Spain

The texture of the gold-hued walls and ceiling is balanced with red steel beams, polished concrete, and pops of pink.

Houses We Love: Every day we feature a remarkable space submitted by our community of architects, designers, builders, and homeowners.

Project Details:

Location: Llucmajor, Mallorca, Spain

Architect: Sergi Pardo

From the Architect: "The reform was thought of with the aim of opening spaces and giving light, making the ground floor an open space. The existing plasters were uncovered to reveal the marés stone so typical in Mallorca. There was a very clear and complicated objective, which was to show the ceramic structural beams, so rare today, and very aesthetically beautiful. The warm red pine wood of windows, doors, and cabinets with bold colors was integrated in the rear façade, in the microcement of floors and walls of the bathrooms as well as the kitchen furniture, and polished concrete flooring and exposed air conditioning duct to give a more industrial touch."
