Make Your Backyard Even Greener With This Sustainable Furniture Collection
Chicory’s patio-perfect pieces are the ultimate finishing touch for any outdoor space.
Sustainable backyard design goes far beyond just celebrating native flowers and foliage; it’s rooted in every design decision, including where you lounge.
Enter the Chicory x Dwell collection of stylish, eco-conscious outdoor furniture. From the cushy modular sectionals to the low-slung coffee tables, beauty and resilience are at the heart of Chicory’s designs. And, according to renowned landscape designer Christian Douglas, they’re the perfect finishing touch for any sustainably-minded backyard.
"Styling is important, making sure the design of your exterior furnishings complement the home, especially in warmer climates where the indoor and outdoor spaces are more connected and used simultaneously," says Douglas.
Douglas recently incorporated Chicory into his own stunning outdoor space in San Rafael, California, for a trio of reasons: "[First,] Chicory’s efforts to create a more intentional product line and service, with FSC-sourced lumber, recycled foam, and upcycled plastic for the cushions. Secondly, the clean, modern design aesthetic, which works beautifully with our midcentury home. Thirdly, the modular approach means I can always add to the set if I felt the need in the future."
Of course, true sustainability goes beyond the moment a cushion is placed onto a deck chair and takes into account the full life-cycle of its products. Chicory’s weatherproof teak frames and performance-dyed upholstery are designed to last and then some. Removable, washable cushion covers make regular cleaning and maintenance a breeze, while the Oeko-Tex-certified fabrics are engineered without forever chemicals to resist the wear and tear of the elements, like rain, mold, mildew, UV rays, and the occasional glass of Cabernet.
